After spending too much time on social networking media finally, i land on a great profile of a girl where she posted something related to the design as a design aspirant ( i'm still confused to claim myself as a designer after spending 1 and half year in this field) I'm bit curious to know what she wrote in that article! she's is calming that design thinking has the power to change the word great words mostly that article is about the rural India and open defecation.
There were some of the examples she states example how IDE Cambodia, low-cost toilet change and impact in rural areas of Cambodia. which she did not talk much about it except in advantages.
while reading the article I did not feel the situation of the people who are suffering. the seriousness of this such big issue I did not find in her word. As I came from middle-class Indian family my parents used to live in a village. Every summer holidays we used to go to my grandfather village it was great old days. yeah, every night after the sun goes down women in the village starts getting out with water full of bowl/bottle in their hand. santa gadgebaba used to say " निदान घानी वर माती तरी टाकावी " it means at least put sand on feces after defecating in open. he is the first social worker start working aawarness of sanitaion in maharashtra.
when I search who Indian people working on such serious issues I got good TED talk by Joe Madiath: "Better toilets, a better life" he talks very expressively you can get the depth of the issue from his voice. I'm very small to comment on the talk or such issue until I went experience environment.
I'm in the middle of my design project try to solving issues in the prestigious college in India where 24x7 electricity, water, internet, food get easily. today this question haunts "WHAT ARE WE DOING AS A INDIAN DESIGNER ?"
if you have the answer to this question please post a comment I'll be waiting for the views
